Bill Rogers retuned again for a third one day followup on the first two workshop, extending the skills acquired - and practiced over the last several months in our monthly life drawing evenings.

Bill Rogers returned for the promised second intensive life drawing workshop. Bill's workshops have been very popular. The continuing program is providing a unique opportunity for life drawing enthusiasts to build their skills. Bill Rogers, CSPWC, TWSA, SCA presented a very popular two day life drawing workshop. The success of this workshop has spawned a new initiative in regular life drawing sessions in spring and fall 2016, to be followed by Bill's return for followup intensive workshops. This program will provide a unique opportunity for artists to work to hone their skills in a progressive fashion.

Ron Hazell , CSPWC, SCA, introduced the group to the secrets of painting water in all its forms, demonstrating in watercolour but the concepts are applicable to all media. The day sped by as Ron gave mini demos, then a full demo of a seascape, followed by the challenge to workshop participants to do the same. His recently published North Light book , "The Artists Guide to Painting Water in Watercolor, 30 Techniques", was available and was snapped up by many of us.

Carla McAfee conducted three very instructive and enjoyable workshops, the first on the basics of portrait drawing followed by one on advanced techniques using pastel . More advanced portraiture in watercolour was the subject of her third Art Room workshop. Each artist succeeded in producing a finished likeness from a personal photo, and all agreed the efforts were outstanding. See Carla's work at

A small group journeyed to Smelt Brook, CB, to visit artist Celeste Friesen-Nikkel at her
fabulously situated studio and enjoyed a half day of learning the rewards and challenges of
pouring paint. See Celeste's work at
Sandi Komst, artist from Murray Harbour PEI, gave a very energetic presentation
of the myriad ways in which acrylics can be used, including layering, spattering, collaging and
mixing media to enliven a surface. Sandi showed how these surfaces can be an end in
themselves or can be used as a base for creating images on top. We have invited Sandi to

A half day Saturday workshop, 50 Shades of Grey, given by artist Megan Lloyd, NSCAD grad,
now studying architecture, was held in the studio. Megan introduced us to the intricacies of
colour theory and of mixing interesting greys using acrylics.
